Shavuot is a moment of learning. A time when we open ourselves to Torah, to questions, to what we don’t yet understand.
What would it look like to include end-of-life practices in that learning?
Chevra Kadisha members hold knowledge that is rarely taught, but deeply needed. Not as experts delivering answers, but as people willing to open a door, to share, to sit with others in curiosity and care.
This guide, created by Jessica Alpert, a member of the Community Hevra Kadisha of Greater Boston and an alumna of the Olam Chesed program, offers one way to begin. This resource offers a way to invite people into conversation, to demystify what is often hidden, and to create space for learning that is grounded, human, and connected to real life.
May it support meaningful teaching, honest conversation, and a deepening of care in the communities we serve.
